Plan ahead - getting to York Station and nearby properties
As part of works to transform the entrance to York Station, Queen Street (including the new temporary road), will be closed from 7.00pm on Saturday 24 May until 6.00am on Tuesday 27 May.
During these closures, Queen Street will be closed to buses, cyclists and vehicles, from the taxi drop-off point in front of York Station to the RI Gym / NCP car park access road. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
Access will be available to those needing to use the NCP car park and Queen Street properties, but this will be managed by marshals so please ask them if you need to get there and they will help you.
During the closure, work will take place to remove the existing road surfaces and re-lay them to form the new road layouts
We know Station Road is a significant and well used road in the city so want to share information to help people plan ahead and get around the city, whatever mode of transport they use.
While there has been lots of work to minimise disruption during these closures, we're expecting the inner ring road to be very busy so we're asking people to plan ahead and consider other ways to travel to the city centre.
York, the station and its neighbouring businesses are open for business.
The city centre remains open for business as well and there are a number of ways you can enjoy our city during these evenings.

Trains
Trains are running through York Station as normal. You can get off at York Station as usual and make your way to your destination.
Pedestrians
Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the closure.
The pedestrian route will use the footpath on the station side of the road, which will allow pedestrian access from the station through to Micklegate. Access to the station from Leeman Road is as usual.
There will be no pedestrian access to the new bus stop area as these stops will not be accessible by bus.
Access onto the city walls will be maintained at all times.
The gates at Lowther Terrace will remain open as normal.

Cyclists
Those travelling by bike will be able to access the station from the Station Rise end of Station Road. Follow the signs and advice of the marshals.
If travelling on Blossom Street or near Micklegate Bar, cyclists are advised to go via Tanner Row and Rougier Street to get onto Station Road.
Cyclists can also travel via Toft Green and near the Grand hotel to get to Station Rise.
Alternatively, cycle via Blossom Street, Holgate Road and Lowther Terrace before cycling through the station car park and the ramp on Platform 1.
Buses
Buses will continue to operate but some routes will change as a result of the road closure. This will include the temporary relocation of some bus stops. Plan ahead and allow extra time to travel.
Buses can still access the stops outside the station portico, however the bus stops opposite the portico on the city walls side of the road will not be in use.
As Queen Street is closed, buses will turn around and head back towards Station Rise.
There will also be shuttle buses running between Blossom Street and the station during the closures. The fully accessible double decker shuttle buses will run regularly and will stop at a number of bus stops along the route.

Please note the Station Long Stay Car Park is now closed and the short stay car park will only be available to Blue Badge holders during the closure.
