Restricted access to Station Poritco and Tea Room Square
On the evening of Tuesday 16 June (from 8pm until 6am on Wednesday 17 June) vehicular access to the Station Portico, Short Stay car park and Tea Room Square will be closed due to resurfacing works in the area. All arrangements will be the same as the first week of works.
Blue Badge parking will be available near the York RI building and South Train Shed, with directional signage in place. This is the same location and arrangements as the first week of night works and public drop off will be available in this location too. On this night, access will only be possible from the Blossom Street end.
Taxis will pick up and drop off by the shelters to the side of Parcel Square with signs in place to help you find them.
York Station Gateway - plan ahead
We're working to complete the highways works at York Station Gateway.
This involves 4 weeks of significant works in and around the station to resurface the road in line with the final layout, and to link in the majority of the cycle lanes.
Works include nighttime closures on Monday to Thursday nights in June, from 8.00pm to 6.00am. The Thursday night closures will finish by 6.00am on Friday mornings.

York Station Gateway is coming soon.
The front of York Station is being transformed to create a new and improved gateway to the city.
This upgraded space will:
- improve access to the station, by providing an easier and safer experience for pedestrians, cyclists and bus users
- introduce welcoming new public spaces for everybody to enjoy
- showcase the city’s heritage sites at their very best
City of York Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, Network Rail, LNER and Sisk are working together to minimise disruption as we deliver this major upgrade.
