Parking and permits

Residents' priority parking for Blue Badge holders

Blue Badges help disabled people, and those with certain health conditions, to park closer to their destination.

If you have a Blue Badge you don't need a parking permit to park in a residents' priority parking scheme (ResPark) zone. If you display your Blue Badge on your dashboard, this will enable you to park in your own, or any other ResPark zone without any time restrictions.

ResPark zones are marked as different coloured areas on the map; click an individual zone to see more details.

Use the map search bar to search by postcode or street name to see which properties are within a ResPark zone.

Zoom in (+) or zoom out; (-) or move/drag the map to reveal information; you can also:

  • click a 'feature' to get further information
  • click >> or << to reveal or hide the map legend

As a Blue Badge is issued to a person and not to a vehicle, it may not always be possible for your Blue Badge to be displayed in your vehicle - for example if the holder of the Blue Badge travels in someone else’s vehicle.

You may therefore need to apply for a separate permit should you ever need to use your Blue Badge in another vehicle whilst your own vehicle is left 'at home' and parked within your ResPark zone, for example a household parking permit or a visitor parking permit.

Proof of residency permit

The proof of residency permit is available free of charge to Blue Badge holders.

This permit allows you to purchase discounted visitor parking permits so that you can park your own vehicle in a ResPark zone, without the need to display your Blue Badge in your vehicle.

Special additional parking permit

The special additional parking permit is a free alternative to a resident household permit.

This permit is available for residents who are in receipt of either Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Attendance Allowance.

Further ResPark advice for Blue Badge holders

The attendance parking permit is a free parking permit to enable your carers to park near your property. This is a paper permit that is kept with the resident to hand over to the carer when they visit and must be displayed in the carers vehicle then handed back to the resident.

The community parking permit is a permit for workers who need to be able to park in a ResPark zone in order to provide care for a resident in their own home.
