Our non-statutory planning guidance provides more detailed advice or guidance on the implementation of policies in the Local Plan.
The guidance does not form part of the statutory development plan and does not introduce any new policy requirements. However, it is a material consideration in the determination of planning applications having been through consultation and formally approved for use by Executive Member Decision Session.
We currently have the following approved non-statutory planning guidance:
- houses in multiple occupation - approved February 2026
- house extensions and alterations - approved December 2012
- subdivision of dwellings - approved December 2012
- Affordable housing - approved February 2026
- Masterplanning and garden villages - approved February 2026
- Self and custom build housing - approved February 2026
