York CRF Discretionary Payments
The York Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF) Discretionary Payments run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
CRF Discretionary Payments are funded jointly by Central Government Grant and City of York Council York Financial Assistance Scheme (YFAS) monies to:
- offer timely, assistance to people with low incomes facing sudden money problems
- provide financial support towards housing needs for people who face a shortfall in meeting their housing costs
- empower citizens to better manage sudden money problems
- help with immediate crisis
- prevent crises getting worse and happening again
CRF Discretionary Payments provide a safety net for York residents who encounter a sudden money problem and need urgent financial assistance via 2 types of payments:
- CRF Crisis Payments: providing support to those in crisis
- CRF Housing Payments: providing financial support to help with rent or housing costs
These payments replace the following 3 local support schemes:
- CRF Crisis Payments replace YFAS and the Household Support Fund (HSF)
- CRF Housing Payments replace Discretionary Housing Payments (DHP)
