Council house tenancies

There are 2 types of council tenancies:

1. introductory tenancy
2. secure tenancy

Everyone will start with an introductory tenancy that lasts for 12 months, unless you transfer or exchange your home and already have a secure council tenancy or assured Housing Association tenancy. During the 12 months we'll make sure you're happy in your home and manage it well.

If you are a council tenant you can request factsheets from your Housing Management Officer, including information on various subjects, such as:

• your tenancy
• rents
• repairs
• communal areas
• reporting anti-social behaviour
• moving home
