We offer 'pre-application' planning advice to give you informal guidance on the content and presentation of your proposal before you submit a planning application.

If you know that you need to submit an application, but want advice on the likelihood of your application being successful, then you can submit a pre-application planning advice form.

Download our pre-application fees and charges leaflet 2018/19 to see what we offer and what costs are involved, then complete and return your form, along with the relevant fee.

To find out whether a planning permission application is required, you first need to submit a Householder Enquiry Form.

Our pre-application advice

Our guidance is informal and given without prejudice, but helps identify any issues relevant to your development, so you can consider them before you finalise your proposals and submit a planning application.

This approach gives you the opportunity to improve your submission and speed up the planning decision process.

Any pre-application correspondence will be made available for public inspection under the Freedom of Information Act or Environmental Information Regulations, unless the information is deemed exempt.
