York Crematorium opening times
The office at York Crematorium is open Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 4.00pm.
The grounds and chapel of remembrance are open April to August:
- Monday to Saturdays, 9.00am to 8.00pm
- Sundays, 10.00am to 8.00pm
- public holidays, 10.00am to 8.00pm
Opening times September to March are the same as above, but the grounds and chapel of remembrance close at dusk.

York Crematorium is located in the south ot York, just off the A64 on Bishopthorpe Road near the village of Bishopthorpe and Bishopthorpe Palace.

Travel by bus to York Crematorium

Travel by train to York Crematorium

Travel by road to York Crematorium
To travel to York Crematorium by road, travel on either the M1 or A1 and take the A64 intersection for York. From the M62, join the M1 or A1 northbound, and take the A64 intersection for York.
Leaving the A64 at the A1036, traveling towards Bishopthorpe (approximately 12 miles, 20 minutes driving), and then following Crematorium signs. There are 60 parking spaces including 4 disabled parking spaces.
Walking or cycling to York Crematorium
To walk or cycle to York Crematorium, the onward journey from York Railway Station is approximately 2.5 miles (60 minutes walking, 20 minutes cycling), following Queen Street, Nunnery Lane and Bishopthorpe Road.

Facilities at York Crematorium
Toilets are available in the waiting room adjacent to the White Rose Chapel and Ebor Chapel, from Monday to Friday. These toilets are also available on Saturdays if there is a service taking place.
The crematorium is fully wheelchair accessible and there are disabled toilets. There is also one wheelchair that can be used by visitors.
Other toilet facilities are available for those visiting the grounds. Baby changing facilities are available.
There is a hearing loop in place for those using suitable hearing aids.
