Tenant and Leaseholder Annual Report 2024 to 2025

Tenant and Leaseholder Annual Report: Neighbourhood and community standard

This standard focusses on safe, well-maintained neighbourhoods. We will:

  • ensure the safety of shared spaces
  • cooperate locally with relevant partners to promote social, environmental and economic wellbeing
  • have a clear route for the reporting of antisocial behaviour and hate incidents and an effective approach for dealing with it
  • effectively respond to cases of domestic abuse

What we have done

  • approved our Domestic Abuse Resident and Tenancy Policy in February 2025
  • agreed a Neighbourhood way of working. Working more closely with others, for example: the NHS, the Police, voluntary organisations; and so on will increase our knowledge of local areas. This will provide a stronger approach to finding solutions
  • created a Neighbourhood Investment Programme of £170,000 each year. This will deliver improvements to the areas around council homes. This supports measures to reduce antisocial behaviour, improve communal spaces such as tree and shrub planting and we are funding two additional Neighbourhood Caretakers

What we will do

  • publish a programme of estate walkabouts. Tenants, Housing Management Officers and other partners will walk around the area to talk about issues and concerns that matter to you. This will mean that services will be able to respond more quickly.
  • invest in communities through the Neighbourhood Investment Programme. Examples are:
    • to reduce antisocial behaviour, for example: security lighting, security gates and closing unsafe passageways
    • improve communal areas around council houses and flats, for example: improving hardstanding’s, tree and shrub planting.
    • fund two additional Neighbourhood Caretakers to clean, clear and maintain these areas
  • increase the number of tenancy and wellbeing home visits by Housing Management Officers. Our aim is to visit at least 1000 homes during 2025-26
