Phase 1 - A19 to Wigginton Road
The first phase (A19 to Wigginton Road) will include dualling of the road and a new larger roundabout at Clifton Moor, which will include an access to the future housing site immediately to the north and north-east of this roundabout. Additionally, this will include adjacent facilities for pedestrians and cyclists, comprising paths, an underpass and crossings.
Before this first phase of works, a permanent acoustic barrier will be installed, to reduce the potential impact of noise on residents of Rawcliffe who live close to the York Outer Ring Road.
Construction information
We will be procuring a contractor for the main project and will share more details as to how and when the works will take place once the contract is agreed.
The majority of the widening will be constructed to the north of the existing A1237 Ring Road and will be off-highway, which will allow the existing 2-way traffic flow to be maintained for the majority of the construction stage, minimising any disruption to the travelling public.

Overnight works
It is anticipated that the majority of the construction work will be carried out during daylight hours, although there will be some work done at night. We'll keep noise and disruption to any nearby properties as low as possible. Access for emergency services will always be maintained.
