Following changes brought about by the Elections Act 2022 support for disabled voters has improved.

Information in various formats, about voter identification, is available from the Electoral Commission:

Accessibility at polling stations

Additional support is provided for disabled voters to improve the accessibility of polling stations, including:

  • physical access, for example wheelchair ramps and disabled parking spaces
  • low-level polling booths
  • equipment for visually-impaired voters, including large print versions of ballot papers, and tactile voting devices
  • voters with a disability may be assisted by anyone over the age of 18
