It's important that damaged, unsafe or vandalised equipment in the street is reported so it can be fixed as quickly as possible to:
- avoid safety issues
- keeps networks working for everyone
We're not responsible for 'utility boxes' in most cases; we're only able to help if you need to report graffiti on a utility box - all other problems with must be reported directly to the appropriate utility company.
Report problems with utility boxes
Damage to telecoms, broadband and fibre equipment must be reported directly to the supplier.
- Openreach - report issues to Openreach including damaged BT cables, cabinets, boxes, covers or telephone poles
- Virgin Media O2 - report issues to Virgin Media including damaged cables, cabinets, boxes or covers
Graffiti on a utility box
Report graffiti on a utility box that the we have authority to clean such as Virgin Media, O2, City Fibre and Environmental Agency.
Please note that although we're not responsible for all utility boxes in York, we’ll attempt to inform the owner if you report graffiti on an external cabinet/ apparatus we are not authorised to clean.
We therefore cannot confirm timeframes for removal of graffiti from utility boxes or from private or business properties.
