You may apply for a secondary school place for your child in the September of Year 6. You should apply by 31 October.
Secondary school open evenings are held in September and October each year for prospective pupils to look around each secondary school, with each school holding open evenings on a different evening.
Starting Year 7 in September 2019
The national deadline for applications was 31 October 2018. Only late applications can now be made online.
Late applications may be considered after all other applications, and it is recommended that a reason is provided with any late application. Where a reason has been provided and this is to the satisfaction of the admission authority, a late application may be treated alongside all other applications.
The results of applications will be available from 10.00am on National Offer Day which is Friday 1 March 2019.

Supplementary Information Forms
If you are applying for schools outside of the City of York area or faith schools such as your local Church of England or Roman Catholic Primary or Secondary school, you may also need to provide additional information such as proof of baptism, or fill in a Supplementary Information Form (SIF).
You should check with the school directly if a SIF is required, but you must always apply to your home Local Authority.
