We're in the process of establishing a new 10-year Economic Strategy for York.
A draft version of the strategy is available for viewing:
York’s Economic Strategy 2022 to 2032
Our new 10-year Economic Strategy sets out to improve living standards and livelihoods for all of York’s residents and businesses. We aim to do this through increasing productivity, raising earnings, and maintaining our skills advantage.
To achieve these objectives we've set out 5 themes where action will be taken:
- York as a global city
- a greener economy
- a thriving workforce
- thriving businesses
- an economy driven by good business
A fuller explanation of the 5 themes can be found in the draft strategy document.
York Economic Partnership
To support the development and implementation of a delivery plan, an Economic Partnership Board will be created to influence and guide progress against the targets set.
The partnership will represent a broad spectrum of sectors and organisations, and will draw on the collective expertise of our city.
The draft York Economic Partnership Terms of Reference were approved in June 2022.
Consultation and Collaboration
Residents, businesses and key stakeholders have all helped to inform the new Economic Strategy through their input into multiple consultations, roundtable sessions, workshops and meetings. Our economic evidence base has complemented this consultation work, giving us a solid understanding of the York economy around which to build a strategy.
We have simultaneously been devising 10 year strategies and plans across Climate Change, Health and Wellbeing and Skills. Each strategy has feed into the development of the Economic Strategy and will be just as important to deliver if we are to achieve an economy that works for everyone.
York Economic Strategy 2016 to 2020
