Consultation - changing Blue Badge parking in York

Proposed changes to Blue Badge parking in York

Following the Decision Session for the Executive Member for Transport, on 22 June 2021, we're proposing permanent changes to Blue Badge parking in the city centre of York.

More details are set out within the plans relating to the proposals and the legal notices relating to the proposals (including 'Statement of Reasons' information). To understand the background to the changes see details of Our Big Conversation relating to Blue Badge access in the City Centre.

We aim to:

  • improve road safety
  • increase security against the threat of vehicles used in terrorist attacks
  • balance the needs of local businesses and city centre residents
  • improve the availability of spaces for Blue Badge holders in the vicinity of pedestrian areas
  • cater for some loading/unloading activities
