The following websites are useful sources of information for deaf people, hard of hearing people and their families/carers:

  • British Deaf Association - The BDA is the largest organisation in the UK run by deaf people
  • National Deaf Children's Society (NDCS) - This national charity is dedicated to creating a world without barriers for deaf children and young people
  • Royal National Institute for Deaf People - Royal National Institute for Deaf People (RNID) is the largest charity working to change the world for the UK’s 9 million deaf and hard of hearing people
  • SignHealth - SignHealth is the deaf health charity. Their services offer support through mental health challenges, domestic abuse, and more
  • The Wilberforce Trust - Provide support for York residents who are deaf and/or have a visual impairment. They offer supported housing, supported living, sensory impairment assessments, sight registrations, rehabilitation support and much more
  • York and District Deaf Society (York Deaf Club) - The society offers a welcoming space for the Deaf community
