If you want to object to your parking ticket or penalty charge notice (PCN) you must do so within the initial 14 day discount period.
The day the ticket is issued counts as day 1 of the 14 day period.
Please note that a PCN will not be available to view online until after 11.00am, the next working day after the day it was issued.
Before submitting your objection we recommend that you review the factors we must consider if cancelling your PCN, as these may relate to your own circumstances.
If you are not able to object to your PCN online, you can:
- email firstname.lastname@example.org
- submit your objection by post to our Parking Services team. Envelopes without stamps will not be delivered by Royal Mail
Include the PCN number, vehicle registration number and your name and address in any correspondence; without this information we will not be able to respond to your objection.
If you have not received an acknowledgement within 10 working days, please contact Parking Services to ensure your objection has been received.
we are unable to consider objections made verbally, either by phone or in person at our customer centre.
How we deal with objections
There are many factors we must consider if cancelling your PCN.
We normally reply to objections within 10 working days but some objections take longer to investigate. In these cases, we send an acknowledgment that we have received your objection and will send a full reply when the investigation is completed.
Sometimes we may ask you to provide more evidence to support your case, in which case we'll allow you a reasonable amount of time to respond to our request.
We will carefully consider all objections and attempt to reach a fair and reasonable decision based on the evidence that is available to us.
We will explain the reasons for our decision and make attempts to address all the points you have made.
Unsuccessful PCN objections
If we deny your objection, you will then have an opportunity to pay the PCN at the reduced rate for a further 14 days from the date you receive our reply.
We'll also explain the next stage of the process and how you can make a formal PCN representation if you're unhappy with our decision.
Successful PCN objections
If we agree with your objection, your PCN will be cancelled and you will not need to make any payment.
