NHS Speech and Language Therapists (SALT)

The speech and language therapy team at York Hospital are a key partner in Early Talk for York. There are a number of ways in which they support the approach.

Step 1

Universal screening

Universally screening children using The WellComm toolkit will support practitioners with identifying and responding to specific areas of need, and making appropriate referrals.

Screening outcomes provide key information to support referrals.

Step 2

Sharing of information and advice

Advice, resources and training packages available for parents/carers, health and education staff on SALT website.

Training packages

Contact the SALT service for further information about available training.

Step 3

Direct engagement with SALT Service

The SALT service is available to discuss any concerns regarding Language and Communication Needs (LCN).

Settings and schools should maintain regular engagement with SALT for setting/school (as required).
