Make a payment
The quickest way to pay is online. You will need your Building Control application number or application site address and your debit or credit card. To pay online, please click here.
Report a complaint or raise a query
You can get in touch with the service directly by contacting us by email or telephone. Alternatively, you can raise a comment, compliment, complaint or concern through the Complaints, Feedback and Compliance Team.
Report unauthorised works
If building works are being or have been carried out and you suspect that they are not being monitored, you can contact us via email: building.control@york.gov.uk.
If you think the works are dangerous, report as a dangerous structure.
If you own the building, you can apply for unauthorised works to be checked for approval by submitting a Regularisation Application.
Report a dangerous building or structure
To report an immediate Dangerous Building or Structure, please telephone 01904 551333 Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.00pm.
Alternatively, if the matter is only potentially dangerous, please email building.control@york.gov.uk with a site location and photograph so the case can be allocated to an Inspector for review.
Report out-of-hours:
Out of those times you should call our contact centre via telephone 01904 551550 or the Police on telephone 999, if there is a serious and immediate threat.
Please ensure you have the following information with you:
- What the danger is
- Exact location of the danger
- How long the danger has been there
- If it poses an immediate danger to public safety
- If you know who the owner is, with their contact details
- Your contact details in case we need further information
