Submitting a formal complaint
If the hedge owner is still unwilling to resolve the problem after you have exhausted all reasonable steps, you may request that we intervene by submitting a formal complaint.
- Please read the governmental High hedges: complaining to the council guidance which explains what will happen if a council gets involved using their powers under the new legislation. You should also read the Over the garden hedge guidance which contains useful information. We can send you spare copies of these leaflets.
- Fill in the application form. Please see our Guidance notes for High Hedge Application Form while working through every part of your application.
- The fee for submitting a high hedge complaint is £400.
If you have any queries, please contact the Tree Officer on 01904 551422 or send them an email planning.enquiries@york.gov.uk.
