City of York Council will be carrying out essential resurfacing works on A1079 Hull Road between Tang Hall Lane and the Grimston Bar roundabout.
Works will start on Monday 15 September and are expected to last until Tuesday 21 October weather permitting. No weekend working will be required and the road will be open at weekends.
The works will be carried out by Lane Rentals Services on behalf of the council, working daytimes with lane closures between 9.30am and 3.00pm and at night between the hours of 8.00pm and 5.00am with a road closure.
To allow the works to be undertaken safely it will be necessary for the teams to operate under a road closure during the night shifts. The road will be reopened at the end of the working shift when it is safe to do so.
Phase 1 of the works will be from the Grimston Bar roundabout to Tranby Avenue and Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures every weekday from 15 September to 29 September. The road will close at 8.00pm each night and reopen at 5.00am the following morning, with lane closures in place as the day work takes place.
Phase 2 will involve work from the Tang Hall Lane traffic lights to Tranby Avenue andField Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures on every weekday from 30 September to 15 October. The road will close at 8.00pm each night and reopen at 5.00am the following morning, with lane closures in place as the day work takes place.
Phase 3 will see resurfacing works on the Tranby Avenue and Field Lane roundabout. This will involve night-time closures from 16 to 21 October. The road will close at 8.00pm each night and reopen at 5.00am the following morning. During the day the roundabout will be open, there may be times when lane closures could be required.
Buses (including the Park and Ride buses) will be escorted through the night-time road closures and emergency services will be able to get through the roadworks as needed. Users of the Park and Ride will be managed out of the closure and will need to follow a diversion down Osbaldwick Link Road.
Waste and recycling collections will be collected as normal. Please make sure that you put your bins and recycling out after 7.00pm the day before but before 7.00am on the day of your usual service.
While we are working to minimise disruption, delays are expected, so please plan ahead when making any journeys in the area during the works. We apologise for any inconvenience caused. Residents and nearby businesses have already been alerted to the closures. Nearby businesses will remain open for business and access to them will be maintained.
Pedestrian routes and cycle paths will be maintained. Where necessary, cyclists using on carriageway cycle lanes may need to follow the diversions.
Emergency services will always be permitted through the works at all times.
