In order to carry out the following activities, both the practitioners (the people who carry out the activity) and the premises where the activity takes place must be registered with us (under the 'Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1982'):
- acupuncture
- electrolysis
- skin piercing
- tattooing
- semi-permanent skin colouring
Apply for registration, or to amend your registration details, using the following forms:
Application for a practitioner’s registration must include a passport-size photograph of the applicant which must be endorsed.
These files may not be suitable for users of assistive technology; request an accessible format.
To change your home address or the address of the premises where you are working, contact Licensing Services on email: licensing@york.gov.uk, providing the new details and your registration number.
It is not possible to change the address of a registered premises. A move of premises will require a new registration application.
Guidelines and byelaws
Registered practitioners of acupuncture and tattooing must comply with byelaws; registered premises must also meet the standards.
