Buskers need street trading consent to sell their CDs in York. You can apply for this in advance or on the day.
Apply for street trading consent in advance
You can apply in advance for street trading consent to cover 1, 5 or 10 trading days (for use at your discretion), or a full calendar month.
Buskers must visit the City Centre Management Office (Make it York) based at Visit York Information Centre on Museum Street on the day they intend to trade, so their street trading consent 'advance card' can be endorsed. If an officer is not available, contact our Licensing Section on tel: 01904 552512.
Apply for street trading consent on the day
Monday to Friday you can apply for street trading consent on the day at West Offices, Station Rise.
During weekends and bank holidays (excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day), you can apply at the City Centre Management Office (Make it York) on Museum Street.

If applying for street trading consent by post or email, you must allow 7 working days' notice to receive permission before you intend to sell your CDs.
Street trading restrictions
Trading is not allowed in St Helen’s Square and Stonegate.

- 5 days = £60.00
- 10 days = £100.00
- 1 month = £198.00
