Petroleum licence

Planned maintenance to the Planning Portal

Due to an upgrade to the Planning Portal between 9am and midday on Saturday 21 October, customers will be unable to view documents on the site during this time.

If you want to store petroleum which is intended to be put in to the fuel tank of internal combustion engines (for example, into a vehicle in a petrol station), then you will need a licence.

Please see our petroleum storage guidance for further information as new procedures and regulations were recently introduced.

After reading through the guidance, please complete the petroleum storage licence application form and return to us.

You can expect to hear from us within 12 weeks for the granting of a new licence, and within 28 days for a renewal.

Tacit Consent

Due to overriding reasons of public interest, this process does not fall under the 'tacit consent' parameters. If you have not heard from us within 28 days, please contact us to check the status of your application.

To view all the relevant charges, see our facts, information and fees guidance.
