Becoming a contract short break foster carer

Within our short breaks service we have a small number of 'contract' carers. These are assessed and approved short breaks foster carer who, offer regular short breaks for disabled children and young people in their own home.

They provides an agreed number of short breaks each week and receive a set allowance, plus payments for each child that visits.

Working from home in this way is physically and emotionally demanding and can also be isolating. It's therefore, essential that anyone who applies to become a contract short break foster carer has a supportive family/friendship network to sustain them. Our Short Breaks Placement Workers also provide regular support and supervision.
