Marjorie Waite Court is situated just off Burton Stone Lane, next to Burton Stone Community Centre. It is a sheltered housing with extra care scheme.
There are a number of local supermarkets close by as well as a greengrocer, bakeries, butchers, takeaways, a nearby pharmacy and Post Office, all within easy walking distance.
Clarence Gardens is nearby which hold regular bowling events.
The local library is Clifton Explore library, on Rawcliffe Lane, five minutes away by car or taxi. You can also visit York Explore Library and Archive which is located in the centre of York on Library Square. This can be accessed via local buses or taxis.
There are two local churches nearby: St Joseph's on Burdyke Avenue and St Luke’s Parish Church on Burton Stone Lane. Tenants have close connections with St Luke’s Church and the vicar visits once a month to hold a communion for tenants in Marjorie Waite Court.
Marjorie Waite Court is not far from York Hospital.
There are regular bus services which run into the city centre, Clifton Moor shopping centre, York Hospital.

There are 22 flats in the main building, both one and two bedroom properties, and a further 20 properties attached to the building around the outside. Some flats have balconies which look onto the garden and some flats also have level access showers.
A lift and stairs provide access to all floors. We also have three stairlifts in various parts of Marjorie Waite Court.
All flats have a telephone point, television socket and central heating.
All the flats are connected to the community alarm system.
The main building is fully covered by a fire alarm system with smoke detectors in all corridors, and each flat is fitted with a heat detector.
The majority of outside bungalows and flats have their own smoke alarms, which tenants are responsible for, and gas central heating systems, which are serviced annually.
Outside there is a very pleasant enclosed garden which catches the sun all year round with greenhouse, summerhouse and seating areas.
There is limited parking space for tenants.

- Hairdressing salon - the salon can be used by individual tenants or we have a hairdresser that visits the salon on an appointment basis

The Personal Support Service has care on-site who provide planned care for those who require it. You will need a social care assessment to access the Personal Support Service.
A range of social activities take place in the communal lounge area, and we encourage tenants to set up new activities and groups according to your interests. Please contact the Housing Management Officer if you want to find out what is going on at the moment.
- Tenant meetings
Tenants' meetings are held every two months so tenants can share ideas and thoughts on how to help make sure Marjorie Waite Court suits the needs of everyone.
Marjorie Waite Court is in the area covered by Clifton Residents' Association which is held at Burton Stone Community centre right next door, and all tenants are welcome to attend and contribute at these meetings.
