External and communal area painting and repairs

We repair and paint external woodwork, pipes and gutters, and communal areas, every 8 years as part of the external painting programme for council homes.

We'll write to you to let you know this work is due to be done. Your letter will give you the name of the contractor and details of who to contact.

What to expect

The contractor will make arrangements with you to visit to check for any repairs. These will be done before the painting starts.

Any UPVC windows and doors will have the hinges, locks and handles oiled; the contractor will need access inside your home to do this.

Gutters, facias, soffits and barge boards will be washed. Any dust or moss will be removed, and surfaces cleaned.

Wooden windows and shed doors will be painted. You will need to be at home when they are prepared and painted, as these will need to be opened every day so that the paint can dry properly.

Wooden facias, soffits, windows, fencing and gates will be painted. This will not include wooden doors which will be put on a replacement programme.

Please leave windows open as long as possible to let paint dry.

Timescales of works

The work should take no longer than 10 working days. Good weather is needed, so any rain may cause delays to the work.

Once complete, we will check the work and make sure you are satisfied. We will provide feedback to the contractor regarding any dissatisfaction.
