Volunteer case study: snow wardens

The volunteer snow warden initiative has been growing in the city and there are currently over 200 volunteers who help out with clearing snow and sprinkling grit on pavements across York.

Colin of Bishophill said,

I signed up to volunteer as a snow warden with the intention of keeping the sloping paths of Bishophill clear as in the previous year, some elderly residents had found the paths outside their homes hazardous for weeks on end.
