Schools and education

How much support we can offer for pupils with autism

The level of our involvement with pupils who have social communication and interaction needs and/or sensory differences (with and without an autism diagnosis), varies according to the child's needs.

This could include the provision of visual support and structure and modified materials.

We work with parents, health staff and specialist agencies to support the school in making special educational provision for the pupil. This could include the provision of visual support and structure and modified materials.  Requests for targeted support are made by schools and settings to the Learning Support Hub.

We offer also training and advice to educational settings, including early years and out-of-school providers, to help children and young people with autism to have the same opportunities as others. This is available through the Universal Offer.
