Nighttime resurfacing works are set to take place on Museum Street in York.
City of York Council is urging people to plan ahead if they are travelling in the area on the evenings of Monday 23, Tuesday 24 and Wednesday 25 March.
Road closures will be in place from St Leonard’s Place to Station Road between 8pm and 5am over the three days, to enable the necessary repairs to Museum Street. While pedestrians and mobility aid users will still be able to use the pavements in the area, the road will be closed to vehicles.
Given the location of the works, this means that vehicles will not be able to cross Lendal Bridge during the closures. The affected roads are expected to reopen each day at 5am if it is safe to do so.
The Council has published travel advice on its website to help residents and businesses to plan ahead and has delivered letters to residents and businesses in the area to notify them of the work.
There will be a signed diversion in place during the works. This will use Station Road, Queen Street, Blossom Street, A59 Holgate Road, Poppleton Road, A1176 Water End bridge, A19 Clifton and Bootham to the Gillygate junction.
Buses will continue to operate but some routes will be diverted after 8pm as a result of the road closure so please plan ahead and allow extra time to travel. During the day (from 5am to 8pm) the buses will operate as normal.
The council continues to work closely with the contractor and project partners to minimise disruption.
Any street parking in the working area and within close proximity to the works will be suspended at these times, although any specific access requirements may be arranged by speaking to the site traffic management operatives, who will co-ordinate with residents’ and businesses’ requirements around the ongoing construction operations.
Emergency services will always be permitted through the works at all times.
