Residents and businesses are being reminded that the online and paper consultation over car parking charges in Bishopthorpe Road, Heworth, Micklegate and The Groves/East Parade ends on 27 February.

Traders and residents in these four areas initiated a challenge to parking charges under the Traffic Management Act 2004. This followed the authority’s decision to increase charges for the local, council owned, car parking. Arup is currently conducting the independent review on behalf of the Council.

Councillor Kate Ravilious, Executive Member for Transport, said:

“The consultation has been widely publicised in the four areas with posters and paper copies of surveys distributed to local shops, community venues and libraries.

“We’ve already had hundreds of responses from local and businesses but there is still time for people to have their say.

“If you are affected by this issue, make sure you take the opportunity to give your views on parking charges in Bishopthorpe Road, Heworth, Micklegate and The Groves before the survey closes.”

You can take part in the consultation by responding to our online survey.

Paper and easy read copies of the survey are available at York Explore, Bishopthorpe, Clifton, Dringhouses, and Tang Hall libraries; as well as in local shops and community centres across the four areas. Completed paper copies of the survey can be handed in at these libraries.

On completion of the full consultation, the Council will publish the independent review and details of when it will be considered. The outcome of the decision will be published via the council website.
