Armed Forces Day is held every year to celebrate the dedication and sacrifices of our service personnel, past and present, and their families.
For Armed Forces Day 2025, we created a special trail through York city centre, highlighting sites of military and historical significance, accompanied by a downloadable guidebook.
We still welcome you to download and enjoy the Armed Forces Trail guide and map

Please note: After the Armed Forces Day event is held on 5 July 2025, West Offices will no longer be hosting information stalls or providing physical copies of the booklet.
City of York Council is proud to be a Gold Award signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant. It reflects our deep commitment to supporting current and former members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Through a range of initiatives and events, we celebrate the contributions of the Armed Forces community and promote greater understanding of the organisations that stand beside them. As a city with a rich military heritage, York is honoured to play a part in recognising and supporting those who serve our nation.
The City of York proudly invites residents and visitors to join us in honouring our Armed Forces community on Armed Forces Day. This special event celebrates the dedication and sacrifices of our service personnel—past and present—and their families. Come together with the community to show your support and appreciation.
