Thank you to everyone who took part and gave their views in our consultation. You can read the outcome in the 2025 York Unpaid Carers Consultation Report.
We invited people to take part in a survey which was split into two sections:
- York Unpaid Carers Strategy Survey
- York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Survey
York Unpaid Carers Strategy Survey
We're working with carers, former carers and partner organisations on a new Carers Strategy for 2026 to 2032. The strategy is about making York a place where carers are recognised, supported, and able to live well alongside caring.
Your views have helped to make sure the strategy includes what’s important to local carers and will help to inform our action plan. We will continue to work closely with carers and partners as we develop the plan.
The strategy needs to go through an approval process before we can share it with you. We hope this will be completed by the end of April 2026. If you told us you were interested in getting involved further, we will be in touch with you soon.
If you have any questions, or you would like to get involved, please email: integratedcommissioning@york.gov.uk or telephone: 01904 551550 and ask for Annafie Beaumont or Harriet Smith.
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Survey
York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals Trust wanted to hear about the experience of carers when visiting the hospital. The Trust have used the feedback to inform their carer improvement plan.
If you have any questions about the improvement plan, email: yhs-tr.patientedi@nhs.net.
Are you a carer?
A carer is defined by Carers Trust as “anyone who cares, unpaid, for a friend or family member due to illness, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction”.
Carers’ lives, roles and responsibilities are diverse. Read more about caring as an unpaid carer.
