You can apply for a range of welfare benefits if you're on a low income, struggling to pay your bills or having other financial difficulties.

We (and other local authorities) manage some benefits, such as:

Free independent advice and support is available for all residents on social welfare issues including benefits, debts, employment, housing and immigration.

Many local agencies operate a drop in service, appointments, home visiting, and community based advice surgeries around the City.

Please note, a number of the agencies provide services on single issues such as welfare benefits or for particular client groups such as older people or young people.
