Busker guidelines

Street trading consent to sell CDs

Buskers need street trading consent to sell their compact discs (CDs) or other goods and services in York.

If you wish to offer goods and services as part of your act then you must do so on a voluntary basis.

We can carry out random spot checks to ensure buskers are complying with all guidelines, and will take enforcement action when necessary.

Applying for street trading consent

Apply for street trading consent in advance to cover 1, 5 or 10 trading days (for use at your discretion), or a full calendar month.

You must allow time for your application to be processed before you intend to sell your CDs; allow 7 working days notice to receive permission.

Street trading restrictions

Trading is not allowed in St Helen’s Square and Stonegate.
