The City Walls

Help preserve York's historic and much loved city walls. The walls are free for all to enjoy, but we need your support to continue their conservation. Each year, we invest over £500,000 in their upkeep - preserving the stonework, enhancing access, protecting the surrounding ecology, and uncovering their rich history.

With your generous donation, we can do even more, including:

• supporting skilled stonemasons maintaining and restoring the walls
• improving access so everyone can explore them
• enhancing on-site and digital guides to share their 2,000-year history

You can also 'tap and donate' in person when visting the City Walls. Donation points are now located in Bootham Bar, where visitors can donate either £3, £5 or £10 via a debit or credit card.
