We've now completed the construction of cycle by-passes through 2 two "build-outs" situated adjacent to Middleton's Hotel, and between Emperor's Wharf and City Mills on Skeldergate.
Through the implementation of this scheme, we have aimed to:
- improve safety and amenity for cyclists using the route
- reduce conflict between opposing traffic flows
Ongoing works at the location include:
- maintenance of the cyclist by-passes at each of the existing crossings on Skeldergate
This scheme is part of the government’s Active Travel Programme, shaping the future of walking, cycling and active travel in York.
