Electric waste collection vehicles
Transport is the biggest source of emissions in York, so we're keen to see the benefits of replacing conventional 'bin lorries' with zero-emission 'eCollect' refuse collection vehicles (eRCVs).
Known as 'Thundertrucks' here in York, eRCVs are:
- used 6 days a week on commercial waste collections
- working long shifts from early in the morning to late in the evening
- much quieter in operation
- able to work in city centres without causing disturbance
