Other works along Tadcaster Road
Resurfacing occurred on a section of Tadcaster Road in need of urgent repairs between The Horseshoe and St Aubyn's Place in 2020. This was following a council bid to government for a scheme on Tadcaster Road that was initially unsuccessful.
Gas works on Tadcaster Road
Northern Gas Networks also informed the council of plans to carry out major works to their service at Tadcaster Road by 2025. The council was not aware of these works before the section of Tadcaster Road between The Horseshoe and St Aubyn's Place was resurfaced. These gas works were then carried out from October 2020 and affected 50% the recently surfaced road.
In late 2020, the council was awarded the £5 million funding from the DfT Local Highways Maintenance Challenge Fund to improve large sections of drainage along Tadcaster Road and reduce the risk of localised surface water flooding. This is the funding which is now being utilised and is only available for the Tadcaster Road project.
