A total of 23 schools across the city are stepping up to take part in national Walk to School Week this week (20-25 May).

The annual event aims to encourage children and parents to swap four wheels for two feet (or two wheels), adopting more sustainable travel habits.

The event follows York schools’ success in last month’s Sustrans Big Pedal, which saw Clifton Green Primary school winning first place in the region, with 85% of children cycling, scooting or walking their journeys.
