The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Keith Orrell and the Civic Party are set to visit one of the major sporting events taking place this weekend, the famous York Rotary Dragon Boat races.
The Lord Mayor of York, Cllr Keith Orrell, said: “The York Dragon Boat races are fantastic event that everyone can get involved with, either by taking part or cheering the teams along! I’m looking forward to seeing the wacky and wonderful costumes the teams will be wearing whilst rowing for some great causes.
The races have raised a fantastic amount of money for charity over the past 15 years and I’m sure they will continue to do so for many years to come.”
The York Rotary Dragon Boat races have been held every year since 2003 and have collectively raised over £1 million for charity.
The races are set to take place on Sunday 15 July, with the first race starting at 10am. The final race is currently scheduled to take place at 4pm but may change if England reach the Football World Cup Final.
