City of York Council is inviting residents to Learn to Nordic Walk later this month.
The council’s latest Nordic walking course starts on Friday 25 August and sessions will take place every Friday for four weeks from 10am until 11am, meeting at the Rowntree Park Reading Café.
Nordic walking is one of the fastest growing activities in the UK and at the end of the course participants will receive a Nordic Walking UK Freedom Card, which will enable them to attend Nordic Walking groups anywhere in the UK, including several in the York area.
The cost of the course is £25, and booking is essential as places are limited.
Residents can book their place by calling 01904 553377 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Cllr Nigel Ayre, Executive Member for Culture, Leisure and Tourism said: “For all the health benefits most of us like a chance to do something for ourselves, to be able to socialise, unwind and be fitter. Learning to Nordic Walk is that great opportunity. This course is a chance to learn a new skill while enjoying York’s spectacular views.”
