Report from Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward team meeting on 9 March 2016.
The Dringhouses and Woodthorpe Ward Team met on 9th March at the newly-refurbished Community Hall at Edward the Confessor church.
2015/16 ward budget update
An application for Ward Budget funding submitted by West Thorpe Pre-school was considered. The bid was for £239.94 to pay for six tablets for use by the children. This request was agreed.
Cllr Stephen Fenton reported that of the 2015/16 Ward Budget allocation of £18,189, £820 remained after taking into account grants awarded and schemes commissioned.
Of the One-off Pride in York fund of £7,450, £6,408 remained and will be carried forward to 2016/17.
The Highways fund of £13,991 had been overspent by £483. It was agreed that this shortfall could be made up by using some of the underspend on the Ward Budget.
It was noted that confirmation was awaited on whether the new litter bins will be paid for from the Ward Budget – as had been anticipated – or from centrally-held budget. If it were to be the latter, this would result in a larger sum being carried forward to 2016/17 from the 2015/16 Ward Budget.

2016/17 Ward Budget
It was agreed to invite local groups to bid for Ward Budget funding in May and June 2016. This would help to ensure there is sufficient time for commissioned schemes to be developed.
Planning for the next Ward Committee meeting
It was agreed to hold the next Ward Committee meeting on 28 April, at the St Edward the Confessor Community Hall. It was also agreed that the bulk of the meeting would be for a facilitated discussion, in order to get residents’ ideas to help shape future priorities.
