Westfield Ward news: 2017-18 ward funding recommendations

After thorough examination of all received grant applications, taking into consideration the outcome of the recent Ward Schemes ballot and the extent to which each of the projects addresses ward priorities, Westfield Ward Committee made the following funding recommendations:

  • to dedicate £3657 to set a security pot for projects to tackle anti-social behaviour in consultation with North Yorkshire Police
  • to offer £1463 to Acomb Methodist Church towards purchase of new chairs for the Community Cinema project
  • to offer £3429 to Centre for Voluntary Services towards their Ways to Wellbeing project
  • to offer £183 to Foxwood Residents Association towards skip hire to take away the rubbish and vegetation from Foxwood Park
  • to offer £3130 to Chill in the Community towards the community kitchen project
  • to dedicate £2194 to set a young people general fund to be used for schemes to support activities for young people during the year
  • to dedicate £2194 to set an adult social care provision general fund to be used for schemes to support activities for older people during the year
  • to dedicate £2926 to the trimming of overgrown trees and bushes pot to be used for work at locations across the ward
  • to dedicate £3657 to the tidy up days pot to support bulky waste removal and provision of skips
  • to utilise the 2017-18 capital element of the ward budget for provision of parking bays and remedial works to tackle damaged verges and grassed areas at locations across the ward

The above allocation total is £22,833 and that uses all of the remaining 2017-18 ward budget.

The following applications were unsuccessful due to insufficient funding and not enough support in the Ward Schemes ballot:

  • Chapelfields Teenies,Tots and Tinys
  • The Foxy Crafters
  • Timebank
  • allocation for improvements to alleys and snickets

Unsuccesful applicants were however offered an option to consider applying for a small grant from either of the pots mentioned above and the Ward Committee will help with applications to other sources of funding to help them to happen.
