Nordic Walking uses special poles to enhance walking style, with an upper body technique similar to that of cross-country skiing.
Nordic Walking courses
Our next four-week Learn to Nordic Walk course will take place from 10-11am on Wednesday 26 April and 3, 10 and 17 May 2017 at Rowntree Park. The cost of the course is £25, which includes the hire of Nordic Walking poles. At the end of the course you will be issued with a Nordic Walking UK Freedom Card, which will enable you to attend affiliated walking groups anywhere in the UK.

For those already familiar with the technique, there are several social Nordic Walking groups in York.
Community Nordic Walks
Fridays: 10am to 11am.

A fast-paced session for experienced walkers led by volunteers. Anyone with a Nordic Walking UK Freedom Passport may attend.
Cost: Free (£2 for pole hire).

Thursdays: 10am to 11am.
Rawcliffe Country Park Office, Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride, York YO30 5XZ.
This walk includes additional exercises designed to improve muscle function.
