We want to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in York by 40% by 2020 and 80% by 2050. To help achieve these targets a Climate Change Framework and Climate Change Action Plan have been created.

About the framework and action plan

The climate change framework for 2010 to 2015 is a long term, overarching document that will enable York to accelerate action to reduce carbon emissions across the city, while the climate change action plan for 2010 to 2013 will deliver short term coordinated actions.

About climate change

Climate change is happening and is due to human activity. This includes global warming and greater risk of flooding, droughts and heat waves. Find out more on Gov.uk website.

You can save money in your home and business by helping to tackle climate change; see sustainability information for simple ways to take action.
