Parents/Carers of children currently in year 6 need to apply for a secondary school place between mid September and 31 October. Applications can be made online at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions.
Places will be allocated on 01 March. Parents/carers have the
right of appeal against this decision, and if they wish to do so, should
complete an Appeal
Request Form. Please note that appeal requests can not be made until a
formal notification that a place has been refused at the preferred school(s) has
If parents are applying for a foundation place – that is one based on the child’s religion or belief - at a Voluntary Aided school or Academy such as All Saints' RC, Archbishop Holgate's CE or Manor CE schools they may also need to complete an Supplementary Information Form (SIF) and return it directly to that school before 31 October.
Applications for school places should always be made to the local authority in which the child resides, regardless of where the school is located.
