Primary admissions round

Parents/Carers of children who will turn four between born between 1 September and 31 August this school year, must apply for a school place between mid September and 15 January. Applications can be made online at .

Parent/Carers will be notified of the results of their application on 16 April.  Parents/carers have the right of appeal against this decision, and if they wish to do so, should complete an Appeal Request Form, available on the downloads page.  Please note that parent/carers may not appeal until you have received formal notification that they have been refused a place at their preferred school(s).

Please note - a completed registration of interest form at any school does not constitute a formal application for a place.  A completed online application or a paper application form must be submitted to the Local Authority for a place to be allocated.

Applications for school places should always be made to the local authority in which the child resides, regardless of where the school is located.

Junior admissions round

The 'junior round' follows the same timescale and process as applications to start primary school. Only children in Year 2 at an infant school need apply, but any child of Year 2 age may apply for a place at Archbishop of York's CE Junior School or Carr Junior School.
