Working with the Autism Forum

Members of the Autism Team attend the monthly meeting of the Autism Forum which is held at York District Hospital.

A diagnosis is formally given at this meeting and then an intervention plan is drawn up. The Autism Specialist Teacher is generally involved in the intervention plan, either offering training for parents as part of the ASCEND parents programme, led by CAMHS, offering support, advice and training for schools and settings.

Regular meetings are held with staff at Limetrees, York Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) provision, and multi-agency work often originates from these meetings. We liaise closely with speech and language therapists, especially in the Early Years, where we support settings in the use of communication approaches such as PECS.
