Planned maintenance to payments system

We're making essential updates to our payments system from 1pm on Thurs 19 October to midday on Fri 20 October. We apologise that we won't be able to take online or telephone payments during this time

How do I register?

Creating an account is quick and easy. All you need to do is provide some basic details and complete these steps:

  1. Click on the ‘sign up’ red button (at the top of the MyAccount page or under the login details of the login screen)
  2. Ensure you have read and agreed to the privacy policy statements at the top of the registration form
  3. Choose your username and password and enter your details
  4. Click submit to complete the registration
  5. Once you have received the email to activate your account, click the link in the email to log in and get started

What do I need to set up MyAccount?

You will need an email address to sign up. If you don’t have one, you can find advice on creating an email address from the BBC WebWise website.

Once you have set up your email account, you will be able to create and activate MyAccount. Please do not use a temporary email addresses as it will not be recognised.

Do I need to live in York to have MyAccount?

You do not need to live in York to have MyAccount.

If you don’t live in the city, you can still create MyAccount to access some of our online services.

What if I don't get the email to activate my account?

If you do not receive the activation email after you have submitted the registration form, it may be worth checking your ‘junk or 'spam' folder. If it's not there, please register for MyAccount again. If this still does not work, you can contact us to help you set up your account.

I am having problems logging in/MyAccount is locked

To log in, you will need to use the username and password you entered when you created your account and make sure you have clicked the activation link in the email sent to your email account.

You will be allowed 10 attempts to log in. If you enter the wrong details more than 10 times, you will need to contact us to unlock your account.

If you cannot remember your password, it will be easier to use the reset button before being locked out.

I have forgotten my password and/or username

If you are unable to remember your details, you will need to follow the reset steps by clicking the ‘forgot my password’ or ‘forgot my username’ link on the login screen.

If you have requested a password reset through the forgotten password link, it may be worth checking your ‘junk or 'spam' folder. If it’s not there, you can request the reset again.

I need to change my account details

You can do this in MyAccount. Go to the ‘My Details’ section and select the details you want to change. You will need to enter your new details and then confirm them.

Using your personal information

Any personal information you give us is held securely and will be used in line with the Data Protection Act 1998. When you register, you will be advised of the terms and conditions for the use of MyAccount and you will be asked to confirm that you have read and understood them before continuing to create an account. Please also refer to our privacy notice.
